The Choice to Run

People ask, why do you want to run for school board? Good question. As I've gotten older and hopefully wiser, I've focused my attention and my resources on things that promote goodness and increase equality and justice in the world. When I donate money, I choose organizations that work toward those same goals. And do you know what else aspires to achieve these goals? School systems. We are blessed to live in a country that provides education free of charge from Kindergarten through high school. Here a family does not have to choose which one of the children gets to go to school as they can only afford to send one. Here a girl has an equal right to learn along side a boy. Here we have programs in place so that children with disabilities and challenges can also go to school with their peers. Our education system, despite its flaws, helps promote goodness, equality and justice both right here and all over the world. I want to be a part of that system. I want to continue work that achieves these goals and improve or change the programs and systems that do not. Our success as a school district comes when we focus on goodness, equality and justice for all students.
